English 406B Electronic Documents & Publications

If you have already taken English 407A (Business Writing) or English 407B (Technical Writing), then you are eligible to enroll in classes in UNLV's Professional Writing Certificate program:
http://english.unlv.edu/professional_writing.html

Adding this certificate to your degree would be a great way to demonstrate to future employers that you have the writing skills they need (and that most college graduates lack, to their employers' dismay).

One of the core classes for the program is English 406B Electronic Documents & Publications. It is being offered spring semester on Fridays from 1:30 to 3:45 PM.

Here is the professor's description of the course:

"This course provides an introduction to writing for and publishing in digital/online environments, with specific focus on wikis, blogs, and Web pages. It emphasizes the social and collaborative nature of digital writing. We will examine, analyze, and produce unique Web genres (blogs, wikis, forums, Web pages) and consider their applications in social, academic, and workplace contexts. While this course is designed primarily to be of interest and benefit to students pursuing the Professional Writing Certificate, it may be of interest to students in majors that are centrally concerned with writing, communication, computer science, or design or students with a general interest in the Internet or technology."

The professor is Dr. Julie Staggers, and she gets great student reviews (rated 4.3 out of 5):

Currently enrollment is a bit low, so taking it this semester would be a great opportunity to take advantage of a small class size and more professor time.

I hope to see you there!
